The Coral reefs program is Enactus Laurier’s first international project that focuses on the issue of fish bombing. Fish bombing is a type of destructive fishing that is prevalent in many countries, it devastates the aquatic ecosystem by destroying vulnerable creatures such as coral reefs and depletes the fishes in the ocean. Our program focuses on the Sabah state which is located in the east side of Malaysia as they have one of the most marine biodiversity in the world. However, due to the destructive fishing techniques of dynamite fishing many species underwater is currently under stress. Our program will be based on partnering up with different organizations that is apart of marine conservation efforts to mitigate the impacts of dynamite fishing and regrow coral reefs in the area.
