The construction industry contributes 40% of the total greenhouse gas emissions globally, and at least 88% of the waste produced in construction ends up in landfills, releasing dangerous methane gas. By using conventional processes and materials for decades, the construction industry has been a substantial contributing to global warming and climate change over time.
Utanaka Building Materials is creating innovative materials for the construction industry that are more environmentally friendly than conventional building materials, while at the same time diverting waste that would otherwise end up polluting our ecosystems and further contributing to global warming. Our vision, however, goes beyond our environmental focus. With the surplus obtained from selling our materials, we aim to help vulnerable communities that are and will continue to be impacted by climate change and its consequences. |
